Kern River Valley:
117 species: A total of 26 people participated in
the field with 2 people at feeders. We saw 117 species plus one
form on count day. This was
below the average of 122.7 species. The number of individuals was above average with
24,878 total individuals observed on count day. Eight species had high counts:
Common Merganser, Eared Grebe, American
White Pelican, Peregrine Falcon, Eurasian Collared-Dove, Acorn Woodpecker,
Red-naped Sapsucker, American Dipper. Unusual birds this year: NORTHERN
